As the Area Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide high-quality speech therapy services across multiple Spectrum School locations within an assigned region. This includes, but is not limited to evaluating students, planning and implementing individualized therapy programs, monitoring progress, and collaborating with educational teams to enhance students' communication skills and overall development.

The Area Speech Language Pathologist works under the support and direction of the Area/Regional Vice President, Operations and onsite Program Directors to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice are upheld across multiple school locations and education teams.

‖ Responsibilities Include:

  • This role will cover Rossier Park Elementary and High School campuses located in Orange and Buena Park.
  • Evaluating students within designated programs to determine speech therapy needs and appropriate levels of service.
  • Developing and implementing individualized speech therapy plans based on assessments, student needs, and treatment goals.
  • Setting personalized goals in collaboration with parents, educators, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Regularly monitoring and assessing student progress towards therapy goals and updating treatment plans as necessary to meet the developmental and individual needs of each student, providing periodic reviews and progress reports to the treatment team and parents.
  • Providing direct speech and language therapy to students, employing evidence-based strategies and techniques to improve speech, communication skills, language comprehension, and cognitive abilities which meet the individual age-appropriate needs of each child in their natural environment.
  • Documenting therapy sessions and progress notes accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with Spectrum policies and state regulations.
  • Maintaining detailed case records according to Spectrum policy and state regulations ensuring all authorized documentation, including billing, is completed accurately within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Fostering effective communication with families regarding session scheduling, make-up sessions, and progress updates.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and related service providers to promote consistency and carryover of therapy goals into daily routines and educational activities.
  • Participating actively in onsite multidisciplinary team meetings and regional conferences to discuss student progress and treatment recommendations.
  • Providing clinical guidance and support to onsite program teams within assigned region, offering strategies to assist with the carryover of therapy goals.
  • Mentoring and supporting onsite educators and staff within each program location as needed to ensure effective implementation of student therapy plans.
  • Conducting and/or overseeing the timely completion of initial client intakes and clinical assessments and providing recommendations for program improvements.
  • Overseeing and evaluating the implementation of speech therapy programs across all school locations within assigned region to ensure clinical effectiveness, adherence to best practices and that performance measures are being met.
  • Maintaining clinical quality standards by providing supervision, opportunities for employee training and sharing clinical knowledge and/or counsel with the clinical team.
  • Collaborating and building rapport with clients, caregivers and families to provide support and improve the likelihood of best possible outcomes.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to staying current with advancements in speech pathology and educational practices.
  • Traveling between and maintaining appropriate onsite presence to provide oversight and direct services for all Spectrum School locations within assigned region. Overnight travel may be required on occasion.
  • Performing additional duties and/or projects at the request of onsite Program Directors or as assigned by the Area/Regional VP, Operations.

‖ Qualifications Required:

  • Master's degree or higher in speech pathology or a closely related field of study.
  • Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a state speech language pathology (SLP) license.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required for travel between locations. 
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with autism related disabilities and emotional disturbance.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
