Overview:

Assist in the safe operation and maintenance of Steam Locomotives and other railroad equipment as required to support the activities of a large amusement facility.  Train Engineers will also conduct routine track work and repairs.

 

Salary Details: $22.50/hr. 


Responsibilities:
  • Operating the equipment while observing the tracks for any obstruction during operations and ensuring guest safety.
  • Monitoring the equipment’s fuel, water level in boiler, water level in tender, lubricator, water softener, gas powered generator, and steam pressure.
  • Hourly maintenance PM’s such as oiling, greasing, and servicing air pumps.
  • Daily track inspection for operations ensuring track bolts, spikes, and rail is secured.
  • Track work maintenance replacing ties and ballast. Able to use other heavy equipment such as the jack hammers, dump truck, CAT, Bobcat, and excavator in order to prevent delayed operations.
  • Daily inspections of the Engines boiler, firebox, tubes, and also any rolling stock to be used for daily operations.
  • Knowledgeable of the Railroad history to ensure proper guest interactions with tours of the private coaches, roundhouse, and all equipment that is used.

 


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma / GED required.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must be able to work days, evening, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
