JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Sonographer in our Harris and Smith at Capitol Street clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

 

$10,000 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 4 equal installments over 24 months in 6-month increments.

**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations.  Exams include, but may not be limited to, abdominal, ob-gyn, vascular, infant head/hip/spine, and interventional procedures as well as fetal cardiac echocardiograms
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.  Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the Physician
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures and does not require assistance from fellow sonographers.
  • Actively engage in continuing education and educational pursuits that improve quality, safety and overall services to patients
  • Manages patient flow processes in the most efficient manner possible to accommodate providers and patient. 
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and members of the health care team to achieve quality patient outcomes and recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and the patient's needs
  • Ensure safe clinical care of patients by collaborating with health care team to assess, plan, identify priorities, set realistic goals and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care through ultrasound. Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
  • Completes exam tracking/billing accurately on a daily basis
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein

 

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification
  • BLS required
  • Level I - Must obtain ARDMS certifications as required by each entity within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II - Minimum of two years' experience as a Sonographer.

 

JOB HOURS:

The schedule for this position is day shifts.
