FM Approvals is seeking a business development engineer.   

 

Interested candidates should have experience with a range of commercial / industrial building materials and assemblies.  Knowledge of industry codes and leading market associations within the Americas region would be helpful, but not mandatory.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify opportunities in targeted industries.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with team members, customers, and member companies within the Americas.
  • Overnight travel to customers, events and trade shows (Typically 25% or more).
  • Support the development of technical knowledge and communication of market trends to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the targeted industries including regulation landscape, competitors’ intelligence, challenges and opportunities

 Key Competencies

  • Strong communication skills (written, phone, in-person, presentations)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and supportive member of a team
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with a passion to learn individually and from others
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or business / marketing degree with relevant experience in an engineering / technical role
  • 3+ years in the product certification, manufacturing or building industry
  • Experience with third party product certifications in the building materials, photovoltaic, industrial fluids areas would be preferred.
  • Project management, product design, or experience in building materials industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with FM Approvals evaluation standards and/or FM Loss Prevention Data Sheets is beneficial.
  • Moderate high: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook

The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
