• Responsible to support the school districts Zero-Waste program.

• Lead effort to implement, educate, and train housekeeping staff members on up-to-date zero[1]waste housekeeping standards.

• Work with District staff to ensure standards are met.

• Monitor and improve collection, separation, and transportation of materials, perform routine waste audits, identify cost savings opportunities, cost cost-neutral and income-producing streams.

• Develop, and update procedures and direct action of housekeeping staff related to recyclable materials collection and handling, support of university off-hours and weekend events

• Support donation programs with local churches and other local charities.

• Coordinate the actions of the Grounds/Litter Patrol and Recycling staff, including student workers.

• Supervise cleaning and maintenance of indoor and outdoor waste cans, including garbage cans and

toters.

• Inspect dumpster sites for compliance with the University’s waste management and stormwater management programs.

• Communicate program needs, including placement of containers and dumpsters,

to the Facilities Services 

• Other duties and tasks as required which are subject to change without notice.

Experience: 

  • You can be currently in college and taking classes for sustainability. 
  • Grant knowledge is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to grow strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and maintain composure in a variety of situations.
  • Passion for excellence backed by a track record of accountability, collaboration, and integrity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, consultative, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment balancing multiple projects and embracing change.
  • Ability to resolve issues under tight timeframes and pressure.
