Overview:

Maintains service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles and assists with planning and scheduling for area. Coordinates and conducts heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance, vehicle / equipment capital replacement, modifications, and improvement programs, as well as assists with winter season snow removal operations during the off season.


Responsibilities:
  • Plans repair schedules for park equipment and vehicle maintenance programs; inspects, services, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs vehicles and equipment.
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Conducts equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair, PM’s, upgrades and modifications to various types of equipment and vehicles.
  • Prepares, maintains, and keeps records related to automotive inspection and repair work, work order requests, job status, estimates, and other documentation for proposed or completed projects.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless service.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels for the propane tanks and refills small propane tanks where applicable.
  • Monitors, repairs, and tests all emergency lighting generators weekly used at various critical locations.
  •  Maintains inventory of stock and specialty parts used: tires, special oils, spark plugs, electric cart parts, batteries, and miscellaneous lubricants.
  • Handles or assists with ordering, verifying receipts, seasonal hiring, training, and development as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good knowledge of methods and standard practices of the welding, machining, and automotive trades. Good skills associated with trouble shooting and finding causes of mechanical or electronic malfunctions. Good independent decision making, nonstandard problem solving, troubleshooting, planning, and organizing. Ability to
read, modify, or correct blueprints, sketches, and drawings. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 

Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Related degree or vocational training preferred.

 

License or Certification: Valid driver's license 

 

Experience: Typically requires 2-4 years of auto mechanic experience 

 

Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the above requirements.
