Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a CNC Operator in our City of Industry location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ

- Understand the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)Â
- Knowledge of all measuring instruments and gages for their operation
- Able to speak effectively before groups of co-workers, customers, auditors, etc.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Working knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principlesÂ
- Able to comply to all SPC daily Requirements (if applicable)
- Able to understand and maintain machine complements (when applicable)
- LOTO certifiedÂ
- Understands the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)Â
- Understanding of cutting tools (and offset geometry)Â
- Proven demonstration of algebra/trig mathematical skillsÂ
- Perform first piece verification process per part numberÂ
- Able to be cross trained others as requiredÂ
- Able to assist supervisor and lead person in the training of CNC Operator I
- Understanding of "G" and "M" CodesÂ
- Ability to understand and demonstrate troubleshootingÂ
- Ability and willingness to be trained on the complex CNC set-upsÂ
- Proven demonstration of hitting the run standards per work orderÂ
- Must have full understanding of the CNC control functions (e.g. Fanuc)Â
- Ability and willingness to program using different speeds and feeds
- Exposure to different types of CNC brands and modelsÂ
- Have excellent troubleshooting skills
- Be willing to cross train and/or assist other departments to meet facility goalsÂ
- Understand programming requirements such as; Siemens, Sinumerik and Fanuc controlsÂ
- Make necessary correction to programs per drawing/blueprint as requiredÂ
- Must be able and willing to train CNC Operators I-III
- Proficiently sets up, operates, and trouble shoots machinery for self/othersÂ
- Independently able to run the large multiple spindle machines (Takamaz & Haas)
- Exposure to hi torque Takamaz slotting machines
- Independently run hand fed HAAS and automatic Takamaz
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CNC
- CNC Certificate required
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
