Our Aeronautics Systems sector is currently seeking an Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 1 to join our operations team, located in Clearfield, UT, working on major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Please note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently aircraft structures mechanics at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition. This position requires no previous knowledge or work history working on aircrafts. The candidate chosen will go through up to 6 weeks of training before hitting the shop floor. From there they will receive close supervision involving detailed and written instructions with checks on work performance. What you’ll get to do: Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures Performing part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming. Measuring parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. Modifying incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure. Monitoring and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: lifting over 25 pounds, working with chemicals, prolonged overhead work, climbing up and down ladders, prolonged kneeling, bending, or stooping, carrying tools, testing for and wearing a respirator, and working in awkward and/or confined spaces Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc. Ability to work with multiple tools Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends Preferred Qualifications: Active DoD Secret level security clearance A&P License Previous composite, manufacturing, or production experience Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical specifications and operating procedures.
