The Director of Information Technology manages all resources, services, applications, and is responsible to support all MCR Safety enterprise systems and users. The major areas included are but are not limited to application development, development languages, application platforms, application technologies, multimedia, and relevant database technologies. Also includes workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software. This role is also responsible for telephony, ISPs, data center, security systems and other electronic infrastructure. The role is tasked with assisting in the overall design, maintenance and alignment of the MCR Safety enterprise infrastructure, applications, and platforms to corporate objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for MCR Safety's enterprise infrastructure, applications, and platforms.
  • Plan, lead, organize, and manage staff workload.
  • Develop and manage specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-based objectives for staff.
  • Monitor schedules for all group projects and prioritize based on business needs.
  • Ensure timely project delivery within budget.
  • Promote open communication among department colleagues.
  • Implement standards for software design and development.
  • Evaluate and implement proper security measures per policy and best practices.
  • Utilize designated service tracking software for issue resolution and SLA compliance.
  • Provide technical advice and support to MCR Safety staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with departments to document project business requirements.
  • Resolve technical problems using appropriate analysis techniques.
  • Ensure documentation (procedures, instructions) supports operations in the area of responsibility.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in tools, processes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Provide technical support during non-standard business hours as required.
  • Offer guidance, technical assistance, and mentoring to staff.
  • Recommend IT solutions to reduce operational costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Design and implement strategic plans for system capacity to meet current and future needs.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain system documentation, including reviews and recommendations.
  • Draft RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, and scope of work reports for IT projects.
  • Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses for proposed systems.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors for network products and services.
  • Manage and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Improve customer service perception and satisfaction.
  • Manage escalation of service issues within agreed service levels.
  • Communicate with customers about progress and changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of MCR Safety and departmental goals in relation to IT.
  • Document internal processes and procedures.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies through IT publications and online materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems or Computer Science or other degree related to the job
  • Master’s Degree with concentration in Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred but not required
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in information technology related operations or
  • 10 years or more experience as a senior business professional
  • Three years or more of strategic planning experience which includes technology models and the analytic framework behind these models, strategic initiatives and KPIs
  • Experience with operations and organizational business roles
  • Experience formulating and implementing a technology roadmap and maintaining technical oversight
  • Foundational knowledge of IT systems and Enterprise Architecture supporting business (telecommunications, programming, customer care, mobile, GIS, finance, security, regulatory/compliance, )
  • Experience with and skill in presenting/communicating complex information, emerging technologies, and trends to audiences with varying technical understanding
  • Experience and skill in communication and consultation
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying leadership, consensus building, and coaching techniques
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are a plus.
