Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will support a growing portfolio of programs and IRADs that focus on missile defense, space, and intelligence and will support various modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) project teams in evaluating the mission performance of military systems.
Domestic travel (up to 10%) may be required, dependent on program needs. This position will specifically focus on the development and analysis of models and simulations utilizing the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) Framework.
Basic Qualifications (Principal Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer)
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM field and 8 years of related experience, OR Master of Science in a STEM field and 6 years of related experience, OR PhD in STEM field and 4 years of related experience
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Experience working along the left side of the “systems engineering vee”
- Experience developing systems engineering models using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
- Experience with Threat and Weapon System Modeling
- Experience with Digital threads (specs, digital models, simulation, etc.)
- Proficient with MATLAB, Python, and SQL Database
- Domain knowledge in Missile Defense, Orbital Mechanics, and Space
- Comfortable communicating technical information to technical and non-technical customers
- Experience mentoring and developing junior-level engineers
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering
- Experience using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM)
- Experience using agile development methodologies
- Experience with Ansys ModelCenter
- Experience with SIMDIS
- Ability to support development of systems engineering models utilizing SysML and Cameo
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Graduate Certificate
- INCOSE ASEP (or above) certification
- Object Modeling Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) Model Builder Fundamental Certification

Salary Range: $124,900 - $187,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
