Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems – Global SE Interface Engineer (25-076 & 25-077) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO., or Huntsville, AL. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities. This position will be assigned to the C2BMC-G Systems Engineering Team within SEIT. This is a Systems Engineer and will be at times called to support non-interface systems engineering activities. The C2BMC-G Interface Engineer will be part of a small team of Interface Engineers responsible for developing ICDs and IDDs. This includes establishing new interfaces between external elements, including space and terrestrial sensors. The interface Engineer will work with their leadership to ensure the resolution of issues and challenges that may be encountered. They will ensure that the ICDs and IDDs created are to the appropriate standards required of the program. They are expected to develop various behavioral diagrams to understand and document the requirements and create the ICDs/IDDs. Essential Functions: Create requirements and capture them in DOORS in sufficient detail to provide a clear understanding to the implementation teams Develop behavioral diagrams to understand the requirements and behavior of the interface Develop and update multiple Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents Attend interface working group meetings with MDA customers and representatives of assigned external element engineering organizations and provide support to program integration and test-related efforts for the associated interface May be assigned to support other interface engineers in developing ICDs for other BMDS Elements, support requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling tasks as SE department tasking requires Support spiral leadership to ensure interface artifacts and system assessment tasks required for the assigned sensor interface are completed when required.
