Overview: The Sr. Backup & Storage Engineer will be responsible for the expert-level design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise storage and backup solutions, supporting infrastructure, and tools. The primary role focus will be backups and recovery for our current on-prem and co-location roadmap designs, on-prem to cloud transition, technical deployment, troubleshooting, support, and problem resolution relating to complex backup and storage systems.Â

Essential Functions:Â
Key contributor in setting roadmaps, developing, and implementing plans for backup and storage solutions across on-premises and multi-cloud environmentsÂ
Key contributor in defining and driving data storage, backup, and recovery initiatives in an efficient and scalable manner, working with all levels of CMM/McKesson to address related requirements, problem escalation/resolution, skills development, and trainingÂ
Evaluate and test multi-vendor storage and backup solution products and platforms, make recommendations based on research, develop plans, and implementÂ
Continually seeks ways to automate redundant functions to improve quality and efficiencies of tasksÂ
Acts as lead on large projects for BU’s to provide cloud storage and backup solutions as needed in a team environmentÂ
Documents standards, architecture, implementation procedures, and troubleshootingÂ
Manages customer expectations. Keeps the customer aware of the project status, critical issues, and risks. Obtains customer sign-off at appropriate checkpointsÂ
Acts as a contact point for vendors during evaluation, implementation, and decommissioning of identity platformsÂ
Keeps management well informed on a timely basis of progress, status, and concerns for each assignmentÂ
Effectively communicates ideas and information to peers, management, and customersÂ
Responsible for training, mentoring, directing, and validating the work of less experienced/knowledgeable team membersÂ
Member of on-call rotation.Â

Minimum Requirements:Â
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experienceÂ

Critical Skills:Â Â
Demonstrable, senior level experience with Dell Compellent, Data Domain, and Rubrik, Â
Advanced experience with Azure Cloud deployment and storage at an enterprise level.Â
Â
Preferred Skills:Â
5+ years’ experience with On-prem, Co-Location, Cloud, and Hybrid-Cloud Storage, Backup, and Recovery SolutionsÂ
5+ years’ experience in Storage Engineering, managing Backup Solutions, managing Enterprise Storage Solutions, experience with data storage security concepts and best practices, vulnerability assessment, and remediation.Â
Advanced experience with GCP, AWS CloudsÂ
Advanced experience transitioning/migrating data center workloads from on-prem to co-location, and on-prem to cloud.Â
Advanced experience with automation of repetitive taskÂ
Advanced expertise in communication and transferring knowledge to peers, sub-peers, and supporting teamsÂ
Advanced experience integrating on-prem, co-location, and cloud-based backup solutions for enterprise assetsÂ
Â
Additional Skills:Â
Working knowledge of Oracle Rack, Cohesity, NetApp, Actifio, VEEAM, Veritas NetBackup, OKM, etc.Â
Working storage, backup, and recovery experience with Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle RAC, MongoDB, VMware, Terraform, etc.Â
Experience with large-scale storage, backup, and recovery initiatives across on-prem, co-location, and cloud data centersÂ
Education/Experience:Â
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in Information Security, Information Technology or related fieldsÂ

Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manualsÂ
