Job Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, Operating Room, with line responsibility to the OR Charge Nurse and functioning under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist, functions as a member of the perioperative nursing team to perform direct and indirect perioperative nursing tasks for patients and assists the anesthesia team. The primary focus of this position is the scrub person and the assist circulator roles. In collaboration with a registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist serves as a technical subject matter expert for at least one surgical service and a preceptor for new scrub personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

§  Education

o   High School diploma or equivalent required.

o   Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required.

§  Experience

o   Minimum two years surgical technologist experience preferred.

§  Licensure and/or Certification

o   Certificate of completion from Accredited Surgical Technology Program required.

o   BLS healthcare provider required.

§  Skills

o   Excellent communication skills.

o   Flexible and adaptable to change.

o   Ability to establish excellent interpersonal relationships.

o   Excellent customer service skills.

o   Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.

o   Computer skills required.

o   Ability to maintain confidential information.
