  • The Cardiac Sonographer at Emerson Cardiovascular Associates performs a variety of Diagnostic Cardiographic testing under the direction of Physicians.
  • Candidates must have completed a Certified Ultrasound program and hold a Cardiac Sonography certificate accredited by CAAHEP or an equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms is required, with vascular ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Licensure as a BLS healthcare provider and current registration as RDCS or RCS is mandatory, or registry-eligible status with completion within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential for this role.

Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Office Manager of Emerson Cardiovascular Associates and working under the immediate direction of the Physician(s), the Cardiac Sonographer performs a wide variety of Diagnostic Cardiographic testing on patients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education
    • Completion of a Certified Ultrasound program required.
    • Cardiac Sonography certificate program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or equivalent required.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of two years experience performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms.
    • Vascular Ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Licensure and/or Certification
    • BLS healthcare provider required.
    • Current registration as RDCS or RCS required; or registry-eligible with RDCS or RCS achieved within 6 months of hire.
  • Skills
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Must be well versed in medical terminology
    • Ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to the patient and answer patient’s questions
    • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, cardiovascular pathophysiology, hemodymanics and embryology, in order to recognize normal and abnormal cardiovascular structure, function and abnormalities of blood flow.
    • Maintains knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and measurements of blood flow.
    • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
    • Computer skills required.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information.
