Job Description:
The Clinical Diabetes Educator-Inpatient assists nursing personnel in the development of expert behaviors, competencies and skills that are necessary to fulfill their roles and responsibilities in the delivery of quality patient care in the clinical setting. The Clinical Educator promotes a climate that supports creative thinking and new ideas, professional growth, adult learning, open communication, and collaborative relationships and fosters individual job satisfaction and staff retention. The Clinical Diabetes Educator-Inpatient collaborates with nursing leadership as an innovator, change agent, and leader in the pursuit of improved perioperative nursing practice and quality patient care. The scope of practice encompasses the use of the nursing process in these major areas: clinical practice, education, consultation, research and administration.Education:
Bachelor's Degree Accredited School of Nursing - Required
Experience:
3 years Nursing - Registered Nurse in Healthcare - Required
Certifications/Licensures:
RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Registered Nursing Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association Preferred
PALS Pediatric Adv Life Support - American Heart Association Preferred
Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) Preferred
Certified Diabetes Educator - National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators - Must be Obtained within 18 months of hire Required
Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
