Job Description:

The Nursing Supervisor, in partnership with the Nursing Manager, is responsible for daily departmental planning, nursing clinical operations, decision making and developing nursing staff, as well as supervises staff, including hiring, coaching, counseling, discipline, and performance appraisals. As part of nursing leadership, supports the strategies, mission, vision and values of John Muir Health; assumes clinical leadership for the units; interprets and translates the theory of the care model into daily nursing practice; and uses information systems and resources effectively to achieve quality outcomes. The Nursing Supervisor also tracks and analyzes productivity and quality outcomes and addresses opportunities for improvement utilizing process improvement strategies. In collaboration with Leadership, Director, Managers, staff, and interdisciplinary team, the Nursing Supervisor has the responsibility to standardize, update and/or maintain policies and procedures to ensure consistent compliance; promote compliance with internal standards and regulatory and accreditation requirements; has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for unit and programs supervised; participates in the annual operational planning process; executes priorities to ensure implementation of operation plan within the work unit or units; promotes staff accountability and empowerment through formal and informal processes. The Nursing Supervisor is also held accountable for appropriate consistent staffing and scheduling, serves as a role model for collaboration and collegiality on interdisciplinary teams, and promotes excellence in customer service.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Accredited School of Nursing - Required

Experience:

  • 1 year Healthcare - Psychiatric Acute Care Nursing - Required

  • 2 years Nursing – Leadership as a Charge Nurse or Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager - Required

Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing – Required

  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association – Required

  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training- Within 30-days of hire, with renewal every 12-months - Required

  • Specialty Certifications - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required within 2 years of hire and must be included in the list of allowed certifications by ANCC for Magnet demographics >  https://www.nursingworld.org/organizational-programs/magnet/program-tools/accepted-certifications/

  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training- Required within 30-days of hire and renewal annually or within 30-days of return from a leave of absence.

Skills:

Pay Range:

$79.56 - $119.33Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
