Job Description:
The RN Charge Nurse is a professional RN who assists in planning, decision making, and developing the nursing staff. The RN Charge Nurse is effective in managing and coordinating the performance of the unit through interdisciplinary collaboration. As a member of the healthcare team he/she contributes to a collaborative working relationship with the nursing unit, toward the end of providing high quality patient care, ensuring patient safety, and a positive patient experience. BSN – Required:
-->As of 08/17/22, existing Charge Nurses with ADNs are grandfathered in and will not be required to obtain BSN but will be encouraged.
-->ADN Internal applicants may apply, must be enrolled in BSN program. If hired, completion must be within 2 years of start of the program. If BSN not obtained within designated time frame, will need to stepdown from role.
National Certification: Specialty Certifications - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center – Preferred
Experience:
2 years Nursing - Acute Care Required
Nursing - Charge Nurse or Team Leader Required
1000 hours Nursing - Interventional Radiology Must be Obtained within last 2 years - Core Requirement
Previous Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, or related experience required within the last 2 years
Certifications/Licensures:
RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing – Required
Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018) - Required
Specialty Certification - Preferred
Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test – Internal Candidates Must Pass Prior to Applying for Position (must be proctored in Human Resources) – Required
Skills:
Core:
Minimum 2000 hours experience as an RN in the last 3 years in an acute care ambulatory care setting.
Must be able to start difficult IV’s.
Expert competency in assessment of patients undergoing diagnostic testing procedures, including medications, laboratory results, history and symptoms.
Demonstrates competency in / Competent in caring for patients undergoing invasive and non-invasive procedures.
Meets competency for Moderate Sedation administration and monitoring.
Meets competency standards for patient discharge following diagnostic and/or invasive procedures.
Proficient with EPIC, Kronos, and Performance Excellence.

$86.89 - $117.07HourlyNote: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
