Job Description:

The Quality Improvement Nurse is a Registered Nurse serving a key role in the evaluation of quality and safety data and the coordination and implementation of quality improvement activities to assure evidence based care and optimal clinical outcomes for patients. This position serves as a collaborator and partner with medical staff and clinical staff on patient safety and quality initiatives. Activities include reviewing patient medical records for monitoring and evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care, abstracting data for outcomes databases, performing data analysis, conducting focus studies and preparing reports for internal and external customers. The Coordinator - Quality Improvement is responsible for developing, organizing and implementing quality improvement activities in targeted areas to achieve desired outcomes.

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Related Field Preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years Nursing - Acute Care Required

  • 5 years Nursing - Acute Care Preferred

Additional Experience:

  • Must have experience serving in a coordination or leadership capacity for quality improvement activities of a hospital. Must have experience performing medical record reviews using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the purpose of evaluating the quality and/or clinical effectiveness of care provided; or experience abstracting electronic medical records as part of clinical outcomes database work. Must have experience using a database to capture clinical data abstracted from a medical record for the purposes of peer review, clinical outcomes monitoring or other quality improvement activity. Experience must include running reports using the database.

Certifications/Licensures:

  • RN - Registered Nurse - Current California License Required

  • CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality Preferred

  • Clinical Specialty - Certification Preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make verbal presentations to physicians and clinical staff.

  • Process improvement skills (e.g. IHI Model for Improvement; Six Sigma, Lean).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point).

  • Ability to function independently and within a team with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent judgment, attention to process and detail.

  • Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, tact and ability to deal with sensitive issues.

  • Familiar with regulatory requirements related to performance improvement, including The Joint Commission (TJC), California Health & Safety Code (Title 22) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

  • A high degree of organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands and the ability to complete tasks under strict time lines is required.

  • High level of professionalism and high regard for confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze quality improvement data, synthesize and organize information.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis a plus.

Work Shift:

08.0 - 08:00 - 16:30 No Waive (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$75.75 - $113.62Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
