Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment of John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed corroboratively by John Muir Health administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physician, and Nurse Practitioners and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP is an advanced practice registered nurse w ho possesses evidence-based medical know ledge and skills in physical diagnosis, assessment, and management of health-illness needs in their area of clinical specialty or practice. The NP is academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine/specific examinations and interventions for treatment and care of the patient population served. He/She can provide information to patients on health maintenance, disease prevention and counseling.The NP in this role w ill coordinate pre-surgical assessment, patient testing and consultations of surgical patients at various locations within the health system. This NP may assess surgical patients post-discharge or in the acute care setting. The NP provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at John Muir Health facilities.
Education:
Accredited School of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MSN) Required
Experience:
2 years Nurse Practitioner Required
Nurse Practitioner - Internal Medicine or Family Practice Preferred
Certifications/Licensures:
RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing Required
NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing Required
NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing Required
DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration Required
BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Required
Skills:
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work well with physicians, health care professionals, and community organizations.
Excellent writing and speaking skills.
Strong computer skills and project management including Epic, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access, or another relational database desired.
