Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides medical evaluation and treatment of John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. The NP performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed corroboratively by John Muir Health administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physician, and Nurse Practitioners and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. The NP is a registered nurse who possesses evidence- based medical knowledge and skills in physical diagnosis, assessment, and management of health-illness needs in their area of clinical specialty or practice. The NP is academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine/specific examinations and interventions for treatment and care of the patient population served. He/She can provide information to patients on health maintenance, disease prevention and counseling. The NP in this role will assess surgical patients in the acute care setting or post-discharge as the program develops. This practitioner may also assess medical patients in the out- patient setting for documentation of chronic conditions for patient care across the continuum. The NP provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at John Muir Health facilities.Education:
Accredited School of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MSN) Required or
Accredited School of Nursing - Nursing Practice(DNP)
Experience:
Certificate Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner Requiredand/or
2 years Experience with functioning in a Nurse Practitioner role providing similar types of care -Preferred

BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart AssociationRequired
CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (Refresher Program) - CPI Crisis Prevention Institute Required within 30 days of hire with renewal every 12months
Skills:
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work well with physicians, health care professionals, and communityorganizations.
Excellent writing and speakingskills.
Strong computer skills and project management including Epic, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access, or another relational databasedesired.
