Staff Accountant

The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking a Staff Accountant for our main office in Costa Mesa, CA.  

This position performs a variety of functions related to overseeing all Travel Accounting related functions such as commissions, provider payments, financial review, journal entries and reconciliations.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’ll prepare revenue reports, account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.

  • You will handle inquiries related to commissions and airline tickets transactions, invoice research, credit balances and misapplied commissions/payments.

  • You’ll email travel agents and/or managers to resolve travel accounting issues for the current ACE markets handled.

  • Create/post journal entries in the GlobalWare and FIRM systems to record revenue, expenses, including all supporting documents.

  • You will provide support in identifying, correcting, and monitoring system problems, as well as changes and enhancements for both new and existing systems.

  • You’ll need to demonstrate aptitude to quickly integrate system knowledge and functionality.

  • You’ll Communicate with internal employees, outside AAA Clubs, and management.

  • You will make recommendations and implement changes to policies and procedures.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance is required.

  • To thrive in this role, you must understand accounting principles and complexities as related to multiple states or markets.

  • You will have the ability to analyze complex billing transactions required.

  • You’ll have working knowledge of interfacing departments such as Cashiering, Payables, Collections, Banking and Accounting.

  • You will need strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • General typing, Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel skills required.

  • You should have the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be able to effectively escalate issues to management.

  • Having knowledge of internal systems such as MRM Portal, Oracle FIRM, EICS, Travel would be desired but not required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access would be desired but not required.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$31.76 - $42.34
