STAR Smog Inspector

Under limited guidance, perform complex diagnostic tests and evaluations of motor vehicles, perform smog check inspections, diagnosis and adjustments. Effectively utilize opportunities to cross sell other Club products and services, increasing member awareness and satisfaction.

Job Duties

  • Perform vehicle diagnostic inspections and Smog Checks for Club members and the motoring public at diagnostic centers in accordance with diagnostic service procedures, state Smog Check laws and Club service quality levels.

  • Inform members through oral and written communications of the condition of their vehicles and smog check results.

  • Maintain facility, diagnostic and smog equipment in proper working order.

  • Ensure the facility is in compliance with Bureau of Automotive Repair requirements for equipment, signage and licenses.


Qualifications

  • High School GED Required

  • 7-9 years Automotive repair industry or related experience preferred

  • Must have advanced technical, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Must have basic computer skills with a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office software products, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.

  • Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification Test (L1) - Automotive Service Excellence Required

Safe Business Driving Requirements

  • Valid California driver's license and a good driving record required.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$28.19 - $37.55
