Our Payroll Manager develops, implements, and leads all in-house payroll operations and services including payroll strategies, consultation, policies, and procedures for 20 Auto Club Enterprise companies. All of this is completed in alignment with business requirements while ensuring compliance with federal, multi-state, and local regulations across 42 US states for over 14,800 employees.
The payroll manager is responsible for quality control and will engage in strategic planning and continuous process improvement to deliver efficient and accurate payroll operations. You will also work cross-functionally with other business units to support organization initiatives and department goals and directly support the Vice President and Controller operating unit.
This position is 100% onsite at our Costa Mesa office headquarters.
What You’ll Do:
Every day, you will begin by reviewing daily payroll operations' accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Confirm monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with respect to general ledger transactions and employment tax.
You must have extensive experience in the following:
Workday Payroll processing and configuration (or larger Payroll software).
Executive compensation.
Payroll accounting.
Reporting and systems.
You have the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with short deadlines and be able to succeed in a fast-paced, challenging, team-oriented environment.
To accomplish your work daily, you must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
ADP Smart Compliance experience preferred, not required.
What You’ll Need:
4-yr. College Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
You have between 5-10 years of experience managing payroll operations.
You have extensive experience managing a team, this position directly oversees payroll supervisors, executive payroll analysts, plans for succession, department’s budget, and oversees staff training to ensure consistency.
Although this position is onsite, it also requires the occasional ability to travel (driving, flying).
You must be able to multi-task, balance numerous and diverse operations, and work well with all levels of employees and management.
Clear effective communicator both written and verbal.
Certified Payroll Professional, CPP preferred not required.

The starting pay range for this position is:
$156,500.00 - $208,100.00Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
