Payroll General Accountant

The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking a General Accountant to support our Payroll Accounting team in reconciling, researching, and preparing journal entries of Payroll general ledger-related transactions. 

What You’ll Do:

  • You will prepare and understand recurring and non-recurring journal entries, research and resolve reporting errors or discrepancies accurately and timely.

  • You'll perform monthly analysis of variances.

  • You will perform monthly reconciliations accurately and timely. Investigate and resolve reconciling items.

  • You'll prepare quarterly and annual reconciliations.

  • Assist in identifying and documenting processes and procedures.

  • You will work cross-functionally with other team members and departments to gain an understanding of business and data requirements to ensure general ledger balances are correct, and transactions are classified properly and reported accurately.

  • Perform ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

  • You'll process payments to vendors accurately and timely as necessary.

  • Monitor inquiries related to the general ledger.

  • Distribute reports as necessary to the colleagues.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • To thrive in this role you will have 3-5 years of progressive and relevant accounting experience.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and heavy deadline-driven environment.

  • Large ERP system experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and with different departments within the organization.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring high-quality work and minimizing errors.

  • Independent Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze challenges independently and devise effective solutions.

  • Initiative and Proactivity: A proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities, always seeking opportunities to improve processes and contribute to team success.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$25.56 - $34.08

Additionally, for full time positions, you will be eligible to participate in our incentive program based upon the achievement of organization, team and personal performance.
