McKesson Corporation is looking for an experienced professional to fill our Transportation Operations Technology position. The Transportation Operations Technology position is a pivotal role tasked with enhancing the efficiency and reliability of transportation systems within the Medical Surgical supply chain. Positioned under the Supply Chain Service Category Manager, this individual will lead the charge in optimizing transportation strategies, ensuring the seamless technology delivery of medical and surgical supplies. The role demands a strategic thinker who can cultivate partnerships, spearhead technology integration, and drive operational excellence in transportation logistics. 

Key Responsibilities (List the top five to seven essential responsibilities in priority order.)   

1.Lead Strategic Technology Planning for Transportation Operations: (20%) 

  • Spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive transportation strategies that align with supply chain objectives, focusing on improving delivery reliability, reducing costs, and optimizing carrier performance. 

2. Cultivate Strategic Carrier Relationships: (15%) 

  • Build and maintain robust partnerships with technology logistics providers and carriers, negotiating contracts that ensure favorable terms and high service levels. Develop criteria for carrier selection and performance evaluation to ensure quality and reliability. 

3. Direct Technology Integration for Enhanced Logistics: (15%) 

  • Champion the adoption and integration of advanced transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technologies. Drive process improvements and technological innovations to increase visibility, efficiency, and control over transportation operations. 

4. Drive Cost-Effective Transportation Solutions: (10%) 

  • Utilize data analysis and financial modeling to identify opportunities for cost savings within transportation logistics. Manage transportation budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for maximum efficiency and cost control. 

5. Ensure Compliance with Transportation Regulations: (10%) 

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure all transportation activities comply with national and international regulations, safety standards, and environmental laws. Proactively manage risks to mitigate potential disruptions and liabilities. 

6. Cultivate Sustainability in Transportation Initiatives: (10%) 

  • Lead efforts to incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly practices within the transportation operations. Explore and implement strategies such as route optimization, green vehicle technologies, and carbon footprint reduction programs. 

7. Develop a High-Performing Transportation Team: (10%) 

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team dedicated to transportation logistics excellence. Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation, encouraging team members to drive improvements and achieve operational goals. 

8. (10%)  

  • Lead and manage a team of technology service leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence aligned to McKesson’s ICARE and ILEAD values. 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to ensure professional development and growth. 

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): 

Education/Training – 

Bachelor’s degree in technology field, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications in logistics or transportation management is a plus. 

Business Experience – 

  • Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience. 
  • Leadership experience with proven ability to collaborate and influence decisions at SVP and/or BU President level. 
  • Ability to think big picture and connect market trends to shape internal strategies proactively 
  • Advanced understanding of current and emerging healthcare analytics methodologies and applications in various sectors. 
  • Effective leadership, training and presentation skills, and experience in leading multiple, highly diverse teams to achieve results. 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills – 

  • Proven experience in transportation or logistics management, with a strong focus on strategy development and operational execution, preferably in the medical surgical supply industry or a related sector. 
  • Expertise in negotiating with and managing logistics providers and carriers, with a track record of optimizing service levels and cost. 
  • Strong background in the integration and utilization of transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technologies. 
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills, with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage budgets effectively. 
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies. 
  • Commitment to sustainability and innovation in logistics practices. 
  • Superior leadership abilities, capable of building and motivating a team towards achieving excellence in transportation operations. 
  • Strong knowledge of transportation technologies; system thinking. 

Relocation is NOT budgeted for this position.
