Directs and supervises support staff of Geisinger Ophthalmology. Assures that patients are treated with concern and that providers are provided with prompt and courteous service. Coordinates training and orientation programs for the clinical staff. Assesses ongoing training needs. Serves as a resource to answer questions and resolve problems. Monitors performance and provides feedback. Intercedes on behalf of assigned personnel when problems are encountered with physicians, patients, or other clinic personnel. Assures adherence to regulatory agency requirements, safety standards, and infection control procedures. Evaluates clinic flow and recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assists with staffing plans. Provides clinical or diagnostic support services to patients or providers. Must be able to perform skills of Ophthalmology Technician as listed under job code J-02044.
