Job Summary

Provides and coordinates effective and comprehensive engagement with all levels of government (local, state and federal) to achieve programmatic and financial support for patient care, insurance operations, education, research, and community service mission.

Job Duties

  • Researches, identifies and develops advocacy strategies to secure funding opportunities, including but not limited to capital and grant program offerings.
  • Actively engages with Federal Gov’t Relations to ensure Geisinger Health’s perspectives and issues benefit from appropriate advocacy and representation.
  • Coordinates efforts on behalf of all GH constituents including but not limited to the clinical enterprise, the health plan and the College of Health Sciences.
  • Develops and leads both internal and external (local, state and federal government and trade association) stakeholder groups to advance Geisinger’s advocacy agenda.
  • Develops effective working relationships with local and state government officials, agency officials, and other relevant leaders and organizations to advance Geisinger Health’s advocacy agenda.
  • Leads and coordinates efforts with contracted lobbying firms to augment Government Relations efforts in support of Geisinger Health’s advocacy goals.
  • Provides ombudsman services to help resolve legislative constituent concerns.
  • Researches, tracks, monitors, prepares, and issues reports on the activities of local, state and federal legislative and regulatory bodies.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor for executive leadership and other Geisinger team members on advocacy and health policy issues.
  • Facilitates increased engagement with legislators, agency officials, policymakers, and leadership.
  • Develop and grow a national leadership role in setting the standard for rural health policy innovation, research, and broadening Geisinger Health’s reputation in the Commonwealth.
  • Coordinates the preparation and filing of all required reporting and disclosures.
  • Monitors, attends, and reports on legislative meetings and hearings.
  • Prepares legislative testimony, correspondence, and briefing materials.
  • Represents the Office of Government Relations at selected meetings and events.

Position Details

Position is eligible for work from home. Regular travel will be required throughout Geisinger Health’s service. Regular meeting with stakeholders in Harrisburg will also be required. Register or be eligible to register as a state and federal lobbyist is a requirement.
