This role is posted for our spring/summer 2025 season!

What will you do in this job?:

Maintain daily operations of the Front Desk, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Janitorial and Laundry departments, including work plans, staff training and scheduling. Ensure the best guest service is provided to all guests from all departments within the property. As the Front Desk is the central communication for the Lodge, assisting with the coordination of all Lodge departments to ensure high level of guest service is an essential function.

  • Document training programs, schedules, daily procedures and work plans, safety and security standards and Customer Service involvement for the Front Desk, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Janitorial and Laundry departments
  • Attend and hold department manager meetings
  • Maximize staffing, hour, and wage levels for Front of House departments
  • Review gaps and position openings; work with managers to fill positions as needed
  • Assist and develop annual budget and action plans

  • Audit employee timesheets for payroll purposes and control overtime

  • Monitor employee issues, administering company disciplinary procedures as necessary

What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
  • Knowledge of management principles within the hotel and restaurant business, including service standards, accounting practices, and cost control practices
  • Knowledge of the tourism business in Alaska, including state government, industry organizations, and large private industry influences
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an emphasis on the presentation of material in a meaningful manner to the ultimate decision makers
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and safety standards and requirements in the hotel industry
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds with regular frequency, and greater weights with occasional frequency
  • 5 years’ of progressively responsible Front Desk, hotel and/or Restaurant Management experience; or any combination of management, education and training which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Valid US Driver’s License required
