Education 

Required - High School diploma or equivalent


Work Experience

Required - Experience working in controlled environment, following safety measures to minimize exposure to chemicals, body fluids, blood borne pathogens, etc.

Formal Phlebotomy training


Job Duties
•  Performs venipuncture on patients in all age groups resulting in patient satisfaction.
•  Properly initials and /or prepares specimens following the specimen handling procedures.
•  Promptly and appropriately prepares specimens and forwards them to the work area/reference lab within established time guidelines.
•  Accurately validates and transcribes patient orders.
•  Rejects specimens after consultation with testing personnel.
•  Maintains orders and inventories supplies to ensure appropriate par levels of supplies, thereby minimizing emergency orders
•  Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following:  Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
