We have an opening for a DevOps Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be in Dulles, VA. Â This work will primarily be performed in a SCIF environment so onsite work is required.
In this Role, you will:
- Be a part of the enabling technology at Northrop Grumman that puts satellites and spacecraft into space that catapults the Space Protection Mission to the forefront of capability and effectiveness
- Take program software to the next level by using automation frameworks
- Learn cutting edge technologies that take full advantage of a cloud environment
- Locate and remediate problems in code, testing, and deployment
- Use tools like Jenkins and Ansible to set up automation steps that fast-track code from development, testing, and deployment
- Automate cloud native technologies, deploy applications, and provision critical infrastructure
- Work with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology
- Work within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem to configure and deploy optimized infrastructure
- Produce applications that span languages and toolsets including Python, Postgres, Ansible, cloud infrastructure provisioning, PKI, and static code analysis
This position can be filled at a level 2 or level 3.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (ideally Computer Science or Engineering) and 2 years of experience; OR a master’s degree; OR a PhD. Experience can be in used in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ year(s) of DevOps or software development experience
- Demonstrated experience with Ansible, Jenkins, and Kubernetes
- 3+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives and Jira metrics reporting
- U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top-Secret clearance at time of application
Principal Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (ideally Computer Science or Engineering) and 5 years of experience; OR a master’s degree and 3 years: OR a PhD. Experience be used in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ year(s) of DevOps or software development experience
- Demonstrated experience with Ansible, Jenkins, and Kubernetes
- 5+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives and Jira metrics reporting
- U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top-Secret clearance at time of application

Salary Range: $89,400 - $134,200Salary Range 2: $110,300 - $165,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
