Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division, is hiring a qualified Staff Mission Architect Engineer. Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for space in Dulles, VA. The Phoenix Mission Enhancement Engineer will lead and support efforts related to the growth of the Phoenix portfolio with the space security mission domain. These activities include the development of concepts and the technical roadmap for integrating new or existing missions into the Phoenix operational ecosystem, executing trade studies and mission analyses in support of growth, the development of responses for mission area growth and technical evolution to the customer, and driving the vision of the Phoenix operational program alongside the development of next-generation space capability. The work of the Mission Enhancement Engineer will be closely tied to the execution of the Phoenix technical roadmap. A successful candidate will feel comfortable rapidly developing concepts for integrating emerging space capability into the Phoenix portfolio and briefing solutions to NG and customer leadership. Additional support activities include: Reinforcing Northrop Grumman’s ownership of the mission space and ability to deliver solutions to the warfighter, Supporting the alignment of the Phoenix technical roadmap with the space security landscape, Strengthening partnerships with current and future customers, Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on the Phoenix portfolio. This position will expose the candidate to equal parts technical competency, forward thinking ideas, and customer-facing interaction. This position requires a functional understanding of ground system software & development, space system hardware & development, and the delivery of integrated solutions for the command and control of a fleet of heterogenous space vehicles operating in a dynamic environment. This position utilizes the candidate’s abilities to interact in an organized and solutions-oriented manner, driving activities to closure through proactive engagement with Northrop Grumman and customer teams. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 12 years of applicable experience or Masters degree with 10 years of applicable experience. Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance at time of application, current and within scope Knowledge of ground system design, architecture, and the operation of space vehicles Experience in space mission analysis and design, mission architecture development, and concept/CONOPS development. Preferred Experience: Experience with ground systems and space hardware capabilities in the national security space mission domain. Development and execution of technical roadmaps and investment strategies aligned with programmatic vision. Knowledge of software development and deployment best practices, cloud architectures, and application of cybersecurity requirements to integrated ground and space capability. Experience coordinating the efforts of diverse stakeholders.
