Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is seeking a qualified Staff Systems Engineer for the role of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Lead for a Satellite Mission program. This position is located on-site in Dulles, VA and offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas. The selected candidate will use MBSE principles to model various processes, tools, and activities that span the program. The successful candidate must be proficient in Cameo or similar MBSE tool and have an in-depth understanding of MBSE.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply a detailed understanding of systems modeling, engineering, requirements analysis, and design concepts to create, assess, and operationalize MBSE approaches to solving systems architecture, engineering, and integration challenges of the satellite system.
  • Develop model profiles, system diagrams, architecture frameworks, and model queries in the MBSE tools that capture and analyze the system throughout their lifecycle from concept definition through integration.
  • Integrate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary technical teams to transform requirements and technical information into MBSE tools for analysis and decision-making.
  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and system requirements.
  • Provide detailed, prioritized recommendations derived from analysis results to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with requirements through formal presentations to technical leads and reports.
  • Interface with various Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to gather all necessary data to build, update, and/or maintain the models.
  • Serve as a mentor for less experienced MBSE Engineers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Staff Systems Engineer (T5): Bachelorā€™s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 12 years of applicable experience, or Masters degree with 10 years of applicable experience.
  • Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret Clearance at time of application
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MBSE tools and software, such as Cameo Enterprise Architect or other industry-specific MBSE tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with systems modeling languages (SysML) or other industry-specific modeling languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to create flexible, robust models of complex systems that can be adapted and iterated upon to satisfy and provide traceability of evolving requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in common Systems Engineering functions (e.g., requirements capture and management, system diagram and goal definition and updates, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience creating control features to ensure systems effectively meet requirements and quality standards.
  • Experience using the Atlassian product suite (i.e., Jira, Confluence) in an agile environment.
  • Current or active TS/SCI

Salary Range: $171,000 - $256,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
