Northrop Grumman’s Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is seeking a Principal Systems Ops and Sustainment Engineer to join our team in Dulles, VA to act as factory engineering bus and operations support. The selected candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for NG Dulles’ support to the on-orbit operations of a Satellite Missions Business Unit (SM BU) program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Standard business hours support to the regular operations tempo (mission daily meetings, pre/post mission briefings, assisting with bus maintenance activities, CCBs)

  • Periodic monitoring of Bus state-of-health / Trending

  • Acting as the NG Bus representative for on-call support of on-orbit issues or anomaly resolution

  • The maintenance and improvement of bus related operational procedures / scripts

  • Assisting with the execution of future mission rehearsals, system software updates

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Systems Engineer (T3): Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 5 years of applicable experience, or Masters degree with 3 years of applicable experience.

  • Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI Clearance at time of application.

  • Knowledge and experience of any of the following satellite engineering disciplines: attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling and flight and ground software

  • On-Orbit satellite systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in GeoStar-1 space vehicle design

  • Experience with satellite ground software

  • Ability to lead an engineering team through the anomaly resolution process

  • Strong technical background in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics

  • Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor

  • Familiarity with the anomaly resolution process

Salary Range: $110,300 - $165,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
