Position Title: Baler Operator

Wage: $18.70/hour

Shift: 12 Hour Nights

Hours: 7:00pm – 7:00am (3-3-4-4 Schedule)

QPS Employment Group is searching for a passionate Baler Operator to join our client, a leading provider of marketing, packaging, print, and supply chain solutions in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Baler Operator Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain bailing equipment to bind trimmings and paper waste received from the Press/Bindery equipment
- Tend machines that shred and/or compress and bind paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate the disposition of the waste materials
- Thread tie bands around bale and twist or clamp end of bands to tighten bands
- Open compression chamber doors and removes bale from the machine
- Transport bales using airlifts, pallet jacks, or hoist trucks
- Complete daily forklift condition report
- Weigh bales and keep records of the gross weight and materials grade of the bales
- Perform routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed
- May load bales on trucks, and rail cars for disposal, and complete shipping manifest
- May photograph container and seal for verification purposes

Requirements for Baler Operator:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two years of experience working as a baler in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Knowledge of standard setups, adjustments, and operating of a baler machine
- Experience loading heavy items on a semi-truck, rail car, or other vehicles
- Experience operating a powered industrial vehicle or forklift safely
- Knowledge of safety requirements while operating PIVs and working in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing 5-S practices/responsibilities
- Forklift certified or able to obtain forklift certification internally
- Able to use hand tools
- Basic shop math
- Experience operating a baler
- Mechanical aptitude
- Able to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs
