Position Title: Press Operator

Wage: $26.50 - $28.80/hour

Shift: 12 Hour Nights

Hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am (3-3-4-4)

QPS Employment Group is hiring Press Operators for our client in Elk Grove Village, IL. As a seasoned press operator, you'll be the driving force behind producing high-quality printed materials. Press Operator Responsibilities:
- Set up, adjust,  operate, and maintain a gravure press or multi-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work which includes large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical
- Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run
- Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register, etc.
- Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
- Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer
- Act as a leader in providing and promoting a safe and injury-free work environment
- Manage overall quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality and postal specifications
- Produce sample-quality product
- Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste and run speeds
- Communicate information effectively with other crews and departments, scheduling, prepress and maintenance
- Coordinate make-ready process by reviewing job information, establishing make-ready plan, and assigning responsibilities to crew members
- Maintain preventive maintenance program for the press, and use the “Request For Action” system to notify the maintenance department of issues with the equipment

Requirements for Press Operator:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5-8 years web press-printing experience
- Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements and skills
- Able to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
- Able to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings, and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment
- Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
- Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run
- Able to use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly
- Knowledge of in-line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color and register
