The Principal Product Manager will have responsibility for driving product strategy and monitoring the entire product lifecycle starting from market research, customer development, requirements, and ranging to marketing and sales enablement. The Principal Product Manager will leverage a cross functional team and internal and external stakeholders to identify customer challenges and business problems requiring new and innovative solutions. Through partnership and collaboration with Engineering and Support teams to provide critical direction regarding customer needs, enhancement prioritization and release themes.

The Principal Product Manager leads the efforts of his/her teams based upon the strategic relevance and value defined for the customer and ultimately be the champion for the product(s). The Principal Product Manager is also responsible for tactical discipline by ensuring feature requirements are well defined, user stories are properly written, and prioritized so they may be consumed by their team. The role should possess a high-level understanding of the tools technical engineering and be curious about customer support issues to inform future ideation on the solution. The Principal Product Manager is the final authority on acceptance of delivered functionality against user stories and makes the final decision regarding the completeness of delivered software. The Principal Product Manager must have excellent communication skills with the ability to provide insights and leadership at many levels within the organization, both upward to executive level leaders and downward within their teams, as well as external communications with customers. As product concepts are evaluated from the Innovation team, the Principal Product Manager will assist in commercializing new products and ensuring operational readiness is completed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and communicating the product roadmap
  • Influencing product budget and ensuring continued value delivery to the organization; facilitating strategic decisions
  • Leading and communicating strategy and product direction to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Working with internal and external customers and end users to define features that address customer business needs and return maximum value for all parties
  • Refining and prioritizing the backlog of Epics and user stories
  • Collaborating with a UX designer to review user journeys and any applicable wireframes Communicating business and customer value to the team in a manner that sparks curiosity and innovative thought
  • Evaluating and owning new products & constantly evaluating how to enhance value to the business and customers.
  • Coordinating and building strong working relations with various internal organizations including; R&D, IT, Sales, Marketing, Implementation, & Support.
  • Writing and capturing user stories that communicate the product initiatives and requirements Accepting/rejecting the delivered functionality within each Sprint
  • Working closely with customers to facilitate acceptance testing of releases (during pilots)
  • Making ongoing decisions regarding the direction of the product/features • Making the final decision whether or not to release product to customers
  • Communicating openly project and portfolio changes to stakeholders
  • Displaying a high level of critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products.
  • Monitoring internal processes for efficiency and validity pre- & post product launch/changes. Participating in opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 13+ years, with 8+ years, of direct work related experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.

Education

4-year degree in computer science, business, product management, related field or equivalent experience

Critical Skills

  • 13+ years experience as a Product Owner/Product Manager in an Agile environment or equivalent experience working in Healthcare
  • Experience in designing, building, and implementing business solutions using information technology.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced spreadsheet and numerical analysis skills: business cases, margin and cash flow analysis

Additional Skills

  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry - retail pharmacy and/or hospital pharmacy is highly preferred related to 340B
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Ability to exercise tact and good interpersonal skills
