Hiring Now for Controller at Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Franklin, WI. As a member of the Market management team and working under the direction of the Market CEO, the Controller is responsible for the financial activities of the market. The position includes direction of the following functions: Market financial review, finance and general accounting (including accounts payable and payroll), treasury/daily cash management, financial reporting, reimbursement, financial planning, budget and decision support. The position is also intricately involved as part of the revenue cycle as it relates to payor contracting and the impact of business office processes on financial accounting, compliance, governmental reporting, budget and chargemaster design.
DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operations, planning and management of accounting, accounts payable, payroll and finance activities.
- Compiles, analyzes and reviews data for financial reports; works with existing databases, creates databases as needed and/or performs research; provides historical information for forecasting; maintains cost per case information.
- Perform monthly close in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare monthly internal financial reports to support management in operational reviews and internal control compliance.
- Must have knowledge of GAAP and SOX requirements
- Prepare Market financial reporting, to include Physician Practice reporting
- Oversees preparation of Financial Statements and tax returns.
- Assists in reimbursement analysis, cost report preparation, cost accounting, productivity reporting, benchmarking and statistical reporting.
- Prepares and submits for approval the annual Operating Budget; works with departments and senior management to develop the annual Capital Budget based on prioritized capital needs.
- Meets regularly with department and senior management to review financial results; participates in senior management meetings involving financial issues.
- Develops financial, statistical and operational reports as requested.
- Works with operations management to achieve cost and business objectives; establishes cost control mechanisms that are easily understood by operations management.
- Works with senior management and department management in the review of new and existing product lines, contracts and business ventures to provide in-depth cost and financial analysis and makes recommendations regarding related financial issues.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and maintains current knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures.
- Coordinates work with external auditors and consultants for the efficient completion of financial and regulatory audits and preparation of required regulatory reports.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures as necessary for efficient operation of the accounting and finance functions and for protection of hospital assets.
- In conjunction with the senior management team, assists in the development of the operating and strategic plans.
- Manages and supervises subordinate employees; ensures timely completion of performance evaluations, if applicable.
- Works with the Corporate and market colleagues, as required.
- Consistently completes all assignments in a timely, thorough and detailed manner; meets reporting deadlines.
- Manages other projects and performs other related duties as required and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a healthcare financial management position. Physician Practice Management experience preferred.
- Computer proficiency and data analysis experience.
- Experience developing and motivating staff, as well as an understanding of the general principles of human resources management and employment law.
- Proven ability to create effective working relationships with physicians, hospital staff and the community.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and complex organizational management skills.
- Must maintain confidentiality concerning patient and employee personal, financial or medical information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to speak to large and diverse groups.
- Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to continually assess and shift priorities, meet deadlines and work in a stressful environment.
- Must present a professional appearance, providing a positive image of the hospital to the public.
- Must exercise considerable judgment and discretion.
