Position Overview:

 

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our team. As an OR RN at Surgi-Center of Central VA, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic surgical setting with no weekends, no holidays, and no call required. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent work-life balance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterilized and ready.
  • Provide direct patient care during surgical procedures, including monitoring vital signs and assisting the surgical team.
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, following aseptic techniques.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the surgeon.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, surgical techs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient procedures.
  • Act as a patient advocate, providing emotional support and education to patients and their families.
  • Document patient information and procedures accurately in electronic health records.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain infection control standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.

Required Skills:
  • Current RN license in the state of VA.
  • Recent experience in the operating room or perioperative nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure surgical situations.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety.
