Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN)

The 8-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit is dedicated to providing specialized mental health care for elderly patients. In partnership with Kindred Health, our mission is to address the complex psychiatric and emotional needs of geriatric patients in a safe and supportive environment. We aim to enhance the mental well-being and overall quality of life for our patients through compassionate, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment within BHU

·         Documents patient care given.

·         Documents patient rounds and condition within the required time-frames.

·         Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

·         Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

·         Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

·         Evaluates learning needs of the Behavioral patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

·         Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

·         Performs patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure and possess an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree or RN Diploma in Nursing.

Required Certifications

·         BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire

Minimum Work Experience:

·         1 year of experience in Geriatric Nursing, preferably in Behavioral Health - preferred
