Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer OR a Mechanical Engineer to support our Space Satellite facility in Gilbert, AZ. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Tactical Space System Division. The Mechanical Engineer will work with Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) engineering leads and Integration and Test managers across Gilbert product lines to drive design, analysis, integration and delivery of MGSE to support Satellite Manufacturing Facility operations. Job Responsibilities: • The candidate will perform detailed design tasks using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document ground support equipment designs. • The role involves interfacing and communicating with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft engineering disciplines, and component suppliers. • Review of completed analyses and drawings to ensure designs conform to MGSE standards • Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives. • Skills include, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), 3D Printing, Design for Manufacturing, Mechanics of Metallic / Composite Materials, Stress Calculations, and Spacecraft Component Layout. This requisition is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a level T2 or level T3 Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer T2: • Minimum of 2 Years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline.; Minimum of 0 Years with master's degree; Minimum of 0 Years experience with PhD Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Engineer T3 • Minimum of 5 Years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline.; Minimum of 3 Years with master's degree; Minimum of 0 Years experience with PhD Additional basic qualifications for both positions • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Government security clearance • Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.). • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities. • Experience with CAD Software Solid Works/NX/ or Creo Preferred Qualifications for both levels: • Experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill PDM/PLM or equivalent engineering tools. • Experience with Matlab/Simulink • Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination/management • Experience creating designs using machined steel and aluminum, sheet metal, welded fixtures, additive manufacturing/composites components and assemblies • Practice in making and reviewing engineering drawings with GD&T in 2D and 3D MBD’s.
