A Brief Overview
The Market Fleet Manager is responsible for the development of fleet administration standards and vehicle operating policies; purchase or lease of vehicles and equipment; control over maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of vehicle; sourcing and negotiation of parts and maintenance. Closely partners with Safety management as it relates to fleet and DOT in accident review and safety compliance investigations; communicates safety initiatives throughout the Fleet organization.
What you will do
- Ensure that all market fleet operations maintain complete and precise adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines, including inspections, safety program, environmental management, and OSHA.
- Develop and implement the strategies and tactics to manage safe and efficient transportation activities to achieve maximum operational goals.
- Develop business operating system for fleet and monitors adherence to fleet maintenance schedules.
- Keep appraised of new products and product improvement programs that will improve performance and reliability and reduce maintenance and operating costs and encourage participation in such programs.
- Assist and support the development and implementation of fleet preventive maintenance programs throughout the market.
- Establish and control budget and financial goals for all transportation operations; maintain cost efficient practices to ensure cost effective operations
- Negotiates and implements cost savings opportunities for sourcing parts and maintenance.
- Assists in re-balancing fleet to meet business needs and reduce maintenance costs.
- Develop engineering solutions for improving loading and unloading efficiencies and material handling methods.
- Assist with rollout of "Route Planner" at new locations; provide support for Descartes "Route Planner".
- Measure on time and complete delivery to ensure world class operating standards.
- Analyze data and trends to anticipate needs and/or proactively eliminate failures.
- Assist in the development of the transportation management team in safety training, evaluation and accountability for equipment, product, and personnel safety.
- Ensure that market's fleet management team builds and reinforces associates' commitment to provide safe, reliable, cost-effective service.
- Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follows all safety procedures; maintain a safe environment.

Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
Experience Qualifications
- 2-5 years of progressive responsibility in fleet management, the development of related policies and procedures, sourcing, and contract administration experience within a transportation or supply chain / distribution industry or, an equivalent combination of training and education required.
- Experience with digital and automation solutions for manufacturing operations required.

Licenses and Certifications
- Certifications in Production and Inventory Management preferred.

Travel Requirements
- 10% overnight travel plus regular plant visits.
