Job Summary

Key responsibilities include leading and managing the hospital and professional coding services to optimize revenue cycle performance, developing and implementing innovative programs to enhance operational efficiency, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for program improvement, analyzing current workflows and benchmarking against industry best practices, streamlining processes to reduce duplication of effort and increase efficiency, and resolving any hospital and professional coding-related issues, including policy coordination and coding guidance. We prefer candidates with RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credentials and certified coder credentials. Job Duties

  • Manages all of the administrative aspects of all medical record coding functions in regards to the revenue cycle functions.
  • Responsible for unbilled revenue management, best practice coding and consulting services, hospital and professional coding, DNFB management and reporting and chart analysis with regards to coding and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining system-wide coding ethics including promoting compliance in code reporting for all areas in the organization Manages all aspects of Charge Description Master including fee analysis, data support and recommendations for best-practice solutions.
  • Manages the above-mentioned activities of the Revenue Cycle to insure cost effectiveness and organizational efficiency.
  • Furthermore, this position provides strategic direction to these functions and how the functions in question inter-relate to the other revenue cycle functions including Patient Access, Hospital Billing and Collections, Professional Billing and Collections, Denial Management, Information Systems, Revenue Cycle Reporting and Corporate Finance.
  • Communicates the departmental activities to revenue cycle senior management and to the management staff of the system as it relates to cash flow, organizational profitability, customer service and accounts receivable results.
  • Works in conjunction with other areas within the revenue cycle and the system to insure coordinated activities with respect to all revenue cycle needs.
  • Develops, implements and directs various quality initiatives to ensure continuous monitoring and improvements within the revenue cycle process.
  • This includes managing an overall departmental operating and capital budget(s) within pre-determined limits and within Freedom-To-Act guidelines to insure operational efficiencies and obtaining pre-determined performance targets.
  • Facilitates of various technological initiatives in support of business process, coding and chart analysis improvements.
  • Assists with the establishment of a training program and various educational forums for all revenue cycle associates.
  • This will also include the communication of ongoing enhancements relative to process improvement and employee development.
  • Involved, when required, in the development of various revenue cycle and system strategic plans.
