JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to provide general direct and indirect patient care duties, in the clinic setting, under the direct supervision of a physician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Intake of patients, verify and record clinical data and health information.
  • Administer clinical quality measures and update medical records.
  • Use appropriate interventions and strategies considering culture, language, age, gender, and other factors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the medical assistant scope of practice and incorporate holistic patient-centered, team-based care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the functionality of practice operations and provide excellent patient care.
  • Monitor practice schedules for changes or updates.
  • Assist with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits.
  • Monitor the environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness.
  • Guide patients through the healthcare system, ensuring they arrive at appointments on time and prepared.
  • Provide emotional support related to the patient’s clinical situation in accordance with the patient’s plan of care.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, assisting patients in navigating the care continuum to facilitate effective, quality care and improved patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Assist with referrals to appropriate specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Adhere to the limitations of the medical assistant role, including not triaging patients, not providing care prior to provider evaluation, and not identifying as a nurse.
  • May float to other areas when not needed in the assigned area.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 1-year preferred healthcare experience.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a medical assistant program is beneficial. This position may qualify for a training assignment, with conditions stated in writing at the time of hire.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Enrollment in medical assistant training program (company provided) with certification required at the end of the training period.
