Position Summary

Provides direct patient care supervision over daily speech therapy operations. Works with other lead therapists and Rehab Manager to manage scheduling and daily operations of the rehab department. Works under the direct supervision of the Rehab Services Director and Rehab Manager to manage operational budget, capital budget, staffing, hiring, payroll, and quality improvement initiatives. Provides direct supervision over Speech Therapy staff across acute, inpatient, and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Manages individual patient caseload including evaluations, treatments, and discharges.


Reports to: Rehab Services Director

 

Responsibilities of the Position

Areas of Responsibility: Speech Therapy

Manages daily operations of the clinic including scheduling, staff education and development, supply management, productivity management, physician supervision, and personnel issues.

Assists Director and Rehab Manager with budgeting, capital budget, financial management, and regulatory compliance.

Assists Director and Rehab Manager with staffing, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new staff.

Effectively works with registration personnel to manage and improve registration process.

Participates in departmental growth initiatives and physician relations.

- New program development and implementation

Participates in departmental and hospital wide Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.

Coordinates and manages weekend, holiday, and PTO schedule for SLP staff.

Provides coverage for schedule established above, as well as during times of high census or staff call outs, as able.

Independently manages individual patient caseload based on primary setting.

Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

Master’s Degree is required.

 

Certifications/Licenses

Speech Language Pathologist/Speech Therapist license is required.

 

Required Skills

Thorough knowledge of speech therapy and overall rehab services, regulations, and clinic operations.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required to interact with organizational leadership, physicians, staff and communities served.
