Essential Functions:
Howmet’s Houston Extrusions Plant focuses on converting specialty metals into value added extrusions for the aerospace and defense industries.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Operate furnaces with minimal supervision
- Interpret and control furnace conditions to ensure the product is consistent with customer specifications and meets all quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Record production data and maintain production logs.
- Lifting, carrying, and push-pulling material in the furnace.
- Inspect furnaces and equipment to locate wear and defects.
- Maintain temperature logs.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience of machine operation in a production environment
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of Foundry experience in a production environment
- Must be able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom lift
- Experience with conducting general maintenance on equipment or experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
- Experience using a computer to enter and track data.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include holidays, weekends, and overtime.
- Physical Demands: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
