Job Summary:

Lead, identify, design, develop and implement complex architectural solutions, system, and technical designs which enable the successful achievement of business objectives within the Global Network Services are.  Principal network architects will have a firm hanlde of both technical and business skills. They should lead the design process, manage existing networks and monitor the traffic. The professionals also work in coordination with the software and hardware teams to get the necessary network equipment in place. The Network Architect will work in collaboration with the network engineers, network administrators and other professionals in network setup and configuration. They have to assess the existing network technologies to increase performance, security & efficiency. The Network Architects also examine and evaluate the network performance and will make changes wherever required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and solves complex technology and network infrastructure issues that require considerable technical judgment, knowledge, skill, and initiative

  • Analyze systems, complex applications & dependencies, settings, Cyber overlays, and configurations to ensure they are efficient, reliable, secure, scalable, and highly available on a global scale

  • Design, identify, develop and configure both logical and physical infrastructure that can interoperate across multiple global locations

  • Integrates new technologies and platforms into the technology ecosystem while maintaining infrastructure operability and business operations

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned or as may be required for future needs to meet business objectives

  • Integrates operational monitoring and publishes enterprise-level operational documentation as new technologies are installed into the Sysco technology landscape.

  • Develops and publishes enterprise-wide standards in the areas of network infrastructure to include:  hardware, software, architecture and logical design.

  • Collaborates with integrating technology organizations (Cyber-security, application development, server infrastructure, etc.) to develop enterprise-wide system design processes that satisfy all Sysco business and technology requirements

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required formal education

Experience Required:

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • Professional Industry Certifications in the area of Network infrastructure, such as CCNP, CCIE

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

  • Industry Certifications in Networking, Cyber, wireless, telecom, or other infrastructure areas

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Expert level technical acumen with a broad understanding of technology

  • Strong understanding of Physical infrastructure: network, compute, telecom, cloud, cable connectivity, and security.

  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies: Software-Defined Networks (LAN, WAN, Wireless), Security (Firewalls, WAFs) and Load Balancing

  • Strong understanding of Cloud Computing technologies.

  • Strong understanding of Cyber-security and deploying secure environments

  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, analytical, time management and organizational skills.

  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.

  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, making decisions with sub-optimal/incomplete information.

  • Ability to analyze and challenge current working methods to create improvements in processes and result.

  • Identify and implement technical automation solutions for processes improvement.

  • Ability to work independently within a geographically dispersed team.

  • Experience with legacy technologies, modernization principles and digital transition

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to debate, negotiate, and influence and work with others in a collaborative and constructive manner

  • Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate technical risk

  • Manage technology vendors.

Work Environment:
