Job Summary:
The Senior Analyst will be responsible for generating and analyzing data related to business and category performance, supporting Merchandising leadership in deep-dive analyses, and developing scalable analytical solutions to address critical business questions. The Senior Analyst will be required to capture and manipulate data to define the current business/category profile; analyze, design, and recommend future business strategies; and synthesize and communicate findings to leadership. This role requires a strong analytical mindset and data curiosity, expertise in data manipulation tools, and the ability to drive actionable insights to enhance business strategies
Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate and analyze data on business and category performance to provide actionable insights, performing complex analyses to support decision-making processes within the Merchandising team. Aggregate insights to facilitate the development of category and assortment strategies, identifying a targeted objective to support overall business management.
Support Merchandising leadership in conducting ad hoc deep dive analyses to address specific business challenges. Design and execute analytical projects to uncover trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Design and develop scalable analytical solutions to support Merchandising, Category Management and Assortment Strategy activities, leveraging automation and advanced data querying and manipulation tools to streamline analytical processes.
Develop a deep familiarity with back-end source tables to create scripts for efficient data querying. Ensure accuracy and reliability of data by continuously monitoring and validating data sources and tools.
Identify areas for improvement in existing analytical tools and processes, especially those related to Merchandising Analytics. Recommend and implement enhancements to optimize data analysis efficiency and accuracy.
Regularly collaborate with Merchandising teams to enhance product and assortment knowledge. Develop insights on business performance and strategies to guide decision-making.
Develop a deep understanding of the organization's categories and assortment offerings. Familiarize yourself with key performance indicators (KPIs) used to manage the business, specifically the components that make up Sysco’s P&L at the category level (e.g. Merchandising economics).
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Math, or a related field.
Education Preferred:
Advanced degree preferred
Experience Required:
3+ years of experience
Experience Preferred:
​Merchandising or Category Management.
Industries preferred: Distribution, Consulting, Retail/CPG, Banking/Private Equity
Technical Skills and Abilities:
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
Proficiency in SQL required with preference towards Python.
Analytical thinker who can draw sound business conclusions from multiple sources of information and has a strong curiosity of data.
Experienced quantitative problem solver who can manage complex issues and interpret large data sets comfortably.
Strong communication skills and ability to present complex data insights in a clear and concise manner.
