Position Summary: The Sr. Accountant plays a critical role within the general accounting and financial reporting team. This position is responsible for the monthly preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and roll-forwards, balance sheet and P&L variance analysis, and assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual deliverables for external reporting needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and process month-end close journal entries for various accounts, ensuring all supporting documentation is properly included.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely submission, proper supporting information, and analysis of supporting information.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis on relevant balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Provide support for audit requests. 
  • Assist in preparing the monthly financial results package for internal and external reporting, as needed.
  • Assist management with ad hoc analysis requests and projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field of study. 
  • 3+ years of general accounting and/or auditing experience.
  • Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude, able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of team members. 
  • Ability to consistently meet assigned deadlines.
  • Big-picture thinker able to understand the relationship between day-to-day transactions and the financial statements.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as month and year-end and other regulatory deadlines.
  • Skilled in the use of common Microsoft Excel formulas and functions.
  • Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders without “dropping the ball.”
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, team-oriented environment and have a “roll up your sleeves” and “win every day” mentality.
  • Hold oneself accountable and responsible while being self-driven in accomplishing goals.
  • Detail-oriented and can focus on the task at hand by finding the most efficient and effective pathway to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels to communicate with internal and external stakeholders articulately.
  • Ability to logically connect ideas, scrutinize and evaluate arguments, find inconsistencies and errors in work, and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to provide timely and empathetic service through all communication channels keeping peer and customer needs first.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

  • CPA designation. 

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required. 

Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:

  • Additional hours may be required (exempt positions).  

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment. 
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
