Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Military Trainer to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals located in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Military Training Team. Primary responsibilities include: provides consulting expertise to military or defense clients in the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine, plan and execute some or all phases of military training, including instructional delivery, doctrinal development, scenario driven exercises, and after-action review and analysis. Will function as a member of a Training Team by performing instructor-led training to government military and deploying units in both garrison and field environments. Assist with the accountability and maintenance of equipment used in support of all training; assist with the development of training material used in support of all training. Conducts formal training to military or defense clients and supports the development and evaluation of military training and doctrine. U.S. Army Warfighting functions focus on six specific skill sets: Movement and Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, Protection, and Mission Command. Successful completion of the WSC training and certification program, required before full employment, leverages existing military experience and skills. Duties include: Trains and supports inexperienced military simulation operators to operate the simulation, perform simulation functions specific to the operator’s military skill sets, reporting, and role-playing simulated forces subordinate to the training U.S. Army headquarters. Certifies the trained military simulation operators possess the basic simulation skills and ability to role-play simulated leaders prior to exercise start. Controls simulation inputs to represent accurate application of current U.S. Army, Joint, and emerging doctrine. Enhances scenario realism by coaching and enforcing effective military operator role-playing of simulated military unit leaders. Supervises the translation of doctrinal military tasks, commander’s intent, rehearsals, operation orders, and plans into simulation inputs and scripting requirements. Resolves simulation output errors (adjudication) and assists military operators with adjustments to simulated military equipment, simulated task organization changes, simulated resupply operations, simulated casualty evacuation, and simulation map locations. Supports the After-Action Review (AAR) process by communicating significant events. Reviews field support requirements and recommends tool and test equipment. Establishes calibration requirements for filed systems/equipment including all maintenance tasks. Conducts exercise design and scenario development. Performs pre-exercise planning by conducting Site Surveys and participating in planning conferences. Serves as a designated Warfighting Function Subject Matter Expert for the development of the simulation Rules and Workarounds book. Serves as a point of contact for various additional administrative duty positions. Performs maintenance and maintainability demonstrations for customers. Reviews handbooks for technical adequacy. Participates in doctrinal development, embedded training scenario development, practical exercise development, test question development and after-action review and analysis. Writes and maintains detailed reports that summarize training event conduct and metrics such as student enrollment, student demographics, student attendance, student pass/fail percentages, suggested improvements to the course materials and training aids, etc. Conducts on-site training consisting of lectures, and practical exercises in accordance with approve programs of instruction using lesson plans, instructor guide, electronics technical manuals, interactive electronic technical manuals, student guides, handouts, practical exercise worksheets, and both written and hand-on evaluations. Demonstrates specialized expertise in planning and executing all phases of military training exercises. Provides feedback to program leadership regarding system performance and end-user comments. This position requires extended travel to multiple CONUS/OCONUS locations including Poland. The Military Trainer role requires Security+ and Linux+ certifications within six months from the date of assignment to IA/IT roles.
