Summary
CHS has an exciting opportunity within our Learning and Development team for a Lean Learning and Development Expert. The Learning and Development team at CHS is expanding to deliver on our enterprise learning strategy and meet the needs of business and functions. The Learning and Development team will now be responsible for Lean training strategy and implementation across the enterprise. In this role, the Learning and Development Expert will set strategy and build a roadmap for the Lean curriculum, be a thought leader of what is possible to advance Lean training at CHS, partner with leaders at all levels to understand needs and continuous improvement opportunities, design and execute on training strategy.
This is a hybrid-office position and requires onsite attendance 2 times per week or as needed for facilitation of in-person training programs.
Responsibilities
70%:
- Lead and create a vision and 3-year roadmap for Lean curriculum, based on projected business needs.
- Scale Lean curriculum globally to support on-going transformation and operating model.
- Think strategically about Lean curriculum and how Lean offerings support CHS’ continued focus on process improvement.
- Strategically partner, collaborate, and influence with senior leaders to advance Lean continuous improvement and transformation efforts.
- Strategically develop a continuous improvement mindset within the organization.
- Continue implementation of a global Lean roll-out, utilize best practices in Lean methodology, and how to raise awareness and capabilities across varying audiences in the enterprise.
- Perform systemic design, development, or sourcing Lean offerings across varying audiences, personas, and worker types. Can customize to different audiences and levels in organization. (ie. Office, Finance, IT, Operations)
- Deliver and facilitate Lean programs, solutions, and offerings with learners via in-person and live online formats.
- Leads the effort to recommend an approach to align Lean best practices, Change, and Matrix leadership, incorporating new competency model.
- Challenges status quo of current deployment of Lean training to raise capability level and Lean mindset across the organization.

- Utilize training metrics to ensure effectiveness of training programs and identify ways to continuously improve process and delivery.
- Apply adult learning theory and development models, benchmark best practices and trends, and maintain knowledge of cutting-edge approaches to deliver highly effective learning solutions that drive financial results, behavior change, and long-term impact.
- Implement best practice learning curriculum, tools and support mechanisms while utilizing technology enabled learning solutions.
- Develop training tools, resources, and communications to support development programs and learning activities.
- Research learning trends and identify possible applications for best practices.
- Provide direction and oversight on scheduling, communication plans, and training collateral.
- Provide communications with participants and leaders in Lean programs.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or HS/GED and equivalent years (10-15 years) of experience in business, organizational behavior, human resources, or related field
- 10 years work experience with Lean
- 5 years experience with enterprise Lean implementation
- Travel up to 25%
Additional Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Demonstrated strengths in facilitation and presentation with small and large groups both in-person and virtually
- Knowledge of adult learning and development methodologies and tools
- Understanding of various development approaches that span formal training, relationship-based, and experience-based development (70-20-10 model of learning and development)
- Certification in Lean methodology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience in a Fortune 100 company
- Knowledge in training development models, adult learning theory or instructional design
- Background in agriculture or energy-related field
